Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Or HMSS, either way the name throws you right?
But it’s a cocktail bar, a pretty secret one at that. I had heard of it before but never got round to actually going, until now. It’s definitely one of those spots that you either know where it is or you don’t. I didn’t lol but in true alcohol needing spirit (a work night) I found it in the end. The entrance looks like the door to somebody’s flat and if it wasn’t for the HMSS sign and buzz of music, I probably wouldn’t have looked twice.
Even stranger, and this was definitely another Harry Potter moment for me, we walked through and found ourselves on the inside of a telephone box lol, I was hype to say the least.
It’s pretty small inside but I loved that about it. Combine the size with the dimmed red lighting and it made the place very sultry and sexy yet comfortably cosy. We were shown to two seats at a table near the bar and didn’t even have to move for service. Service was unbeatable by the way and definitely couldn’t have been matched in somewhere bigger!
I am off topic though, so I spent the evening there to try out the new cocktail menu. Literally living my best life. Each page of the menu includes a cocktail, its ingredients and an accompanying picture so you know exactly what you’re going to get.
I hadddd to try the Lockness Mobster first and it did not disappoint. It was a mixture of frothy, sweet, strong goodness along with a surprise ingredient! Which I wont ruin for you all.
I tried a few, and only a few because they do not skimp on alcohol, of the crazy concoctions but my absolute fave of the night was the Twister. I kid you not, it is literally a cocktail version of the original ice-lolly and It even includes a lolly but an alcohol infused version. MIND BLOWN
Overall it was a faultless night with flawless service, fab cocktails and an excellent atmosphere. I cant wait to go back if I am honest.
The only thing I would say is drinks aren’t on the cheapest side but let’s be real, nothing worth having is!
