Oily skin on a drugstore budget? This ones for you
As mentioned in Kiehl’s on Wheels my skin is a combination of super oily with dry areas, spot prone, slightly sensitive and I suffer with open pores, even saying that is exhausting. My face is a direct reflection of my lifestyle so if I am stressed, not getting enough sleep or eating junk food my skin will break out.
These are the products currently keeping my skin under control. Though in a few months this will have to be updated as my skin becomes used to them. I told you, exhausting!
Cleanser
I don’t wear make up everyday. Honestly I probably wear it once every two weeks (out of pure laziness and nothing else) but this helps my skin a lot as it constantly has time to breathe. When I do wear make up Micellar Water is my holy grail for the first stage of removing it and whatever else has stuck to my skin throughout the day. City life, ugh
Garnier – Micellar cleansing water
I then exfoliate, which I also do everyday. Before you say it, it isn’t too harsh on my skin. Being oily I require that little extra cleaning that I just don’t seem to get with cleansing milks or foams.
I adore this scrub. I’ve used it for a few months now and my skin has definitely improved. It gives you an immediatly fresher face but be warned, it tingles. I’ll probably try the whole Biorè range eventually, ive heard great things about the pore strips..
Toner
Again something I don’t use every day but when I do its simple. Pun intended. Watch this space because im going to upgrade my toner game and see if there are any real benefits.
Primer
I’m so far from a skin care and make up guru that I’m honestly not 100% sure what a primer is supposed to do apart from ‘get your face ready’ for makeup?! Well this does just that so no complaints. Its super lightweight and mattifying and there is a definite difference in my makeup if I forget to put this on.
Nivea Express Hydration Primer
Moisturiser
With moisturiser, I tend to go with whatever I feel like on the day. Though I am currently rotating between these two. Both do a good job in keeping my face hydrated. A little goes a longgg way with Kiehl’s and I find I need a little more product with the Nivea, probably due to it being oil free.

Nivea Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream
Face masks
I haven’t got a picture of my ultimate go-to face mask but its the 99p Montagne Jeunesse range found in Boots, Superdrug ect. The brand is bad ass! Every mask ive tried and ive tried a lot, does exactly what it says it will and for under £1 I feel like I am winning at life.
When im feeling a little more fancy I use the Loreal Pure Clay Detox mask for a real deep clean. Again immediate results in terms of freshness and a glow. I also notice my pores appear a lot more closed after.
Oils
Some evenings after cleansing and only when my skin is spot free and behaving, I’ll use pure coconut oil as an all-in-one primer, moisturiser and night serum. I know you must be thinking ‘girl didn’t you just say you suffer from oily skin, you crazy’ buuuut oily skin is usually a cry for moisture and I always wake up with fresh skin the morning after. Give it a go! I also use Kiehls midnight recovery but only every other day, my skin appreciates It much more that way.
Flawless skin really does start within and if you’re someone like me, you will have to develop a kick ass skin care routine along with a well-balanced lifestyle. I don’t have either yet!
Please excuse my nails, its pamper day on Friday!

I love the Kiehl’s facial cream! I have combo skin so I can get oily. There are a few Freeman masks at the drugstore that really absorb oil well too. They are a few dollars less than the Loreal. I like the Loreal masks but you dont get that much product.
I seriously love all of the products you mentioned! Especially the garnier micellar water!
I am such a fan of L’Oreal clay mask…I use it at least once a week and it really does work. My skin looks fresh and clean. Love it!
