#SheMeansBusiness – A celebration of female enterprise
I’m still feeling the energy from Thursday night, so I felt like I had to write about it. The #SheMeansBusiness event courtesy of Facebook and Enterprise Nation couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I mean I’m sure we all get those days, weeks, even months of being drained of energy and inspiration/motivation is nowhere to be found. That’s exactly where I was at! Though being a summer baby I blame the current weather.
The evening was based in the beautiful Bristol Harbour Hotel and kicked off with drinks and canapés. (The cosmopolitan was the strongest I have ever tasted btw but I aint mad) We also had a chance to network and take cool pictures, which we jumped at.
At 7pm we were welcomed to take a seat (gifted with the fab journals below) and talks began with Helen Smyth, head of Facebook’s community engagement. Who by the way needs to teach me everything she knows about stage presence and presenting because her delivery was flawless! We also heard from Emma Jones, founder of enterprise nation. I embarrassingly hadn’t heard of this organisation until last night but I am so grateful I did.
Finally we heard from the founder of Silk Fred, Emma Watkinson. Emma was so open and honest with every question thrown her way that I couldn’t help feel connected with her. I have nothing but respect for the journey and empire she has built. I also learnt way more than I could have imagined as she spared no details!
So the events main focus was to celebrate women who have built or inspire to run successful businesses. Who run the world? GIRLS! It was also an opportunity to learn how to utilise Facebook and Instagram to grow your business and I’m grateful for all the new things I now know. I left feeling refocused, refreshed and ready to take on the social world!
#SheMeansBusiness I do, for real!
