Apologies as this post is definitely overdue!
A taste of Cuba
A few weeks ago a group of us Bristol Bloggers and Influencers were lucky enough to spend the evening at The Cuban, Bristol based in the centre/Harbourside. Props to Socialight and Heather for organising this one! I’m really outdoing myself with all this eating out but who’s complaining.
On arrival the manager Ellie, introduced herself and what would the night would be about. Whilst waiting for everyone to arrive I had a lovely chat with a few of the other girls and managed to get some pictures of the decor. The effort put in to really give you the Cuban experience was apparent and I couldn’t actually believe how spacious it is inside. There is a main bar, stage, smaller bar, dining area and even a dance floor type space… and breathe.
We sat around the smaller bar to take part in a Mojito masterclass. Now anything made with alcohol amazes me tbh so you know I was interested lol. The bartender was super at what he does and showed us promptly how to create the original version with mint and then also a passion fruit version. The passionfruit one definitely wins for me. We also tried the infamous spiced old-fashioned and a few shots! They stock a whole lot of rum, so you will be spoilt on choice.
A new fave
We had a massive table awaiting us for dinner and ordered more drinks whilst deciding what to eat. I went for the La Hurricana and was not disappointed like yo, this might just be my new favourite drink! I honestly I couldn’t get over how nice it was, I even had another two/three.
Now as there were so many of us I assumed we would just be presented with a variety of tapas to all try, but no. We were handed menus and able to each order a starter and main. For the starter I chose the loaded chicken nachos (bbq If I remember correctly). Although I think accidentally ordered off the tapas menu and the portion was HUGE! Literally a Tianna Vs Food moment and I didn’t win, even with some help. For the main I chose steak (I can hear you saying shock), which I kicked myself for as basically I didn’t actually check the menu properly. Our table was full of so many more interesting options I could have gone for.. paella, lamb chops, burgers you name it!
We got options
A variety of deserts including a white chocolate pannacotta, lemon and lychee sorbet and poached pear were bought to the table in abundance. The sorbet was sooo up my street its unbelievable. I’m sure I ate the whole thing but those next to me were loving the others anyway so it went unnoticed!
The live music began somewhere between our starter and main and really picked up the already lively atmosphere. It was perfect as it didn’t disrupt you having a conversation over the table but you had something to watch whilst waiting for the food.
I had a such a good night with fab company, good food and amazing cocktails! Its defo worth an after work trip now the weathers picking up and I hear they do Salsa classes on a Tuesday! 😉
Thank you alllll at The Cuban!
